Knoxville Electric Vehicle Association

We are Knoxville’s leading non-profit dedicated to educating the public on the benefits of driving electric. Functioning as a regional chapter of the Electric Vehicle Association since 2010. Our monthly meetings and events are great places to come talk to daily EV drivers and have your questions answered as well as a community for EV enthusiasts. If you have never driven an EV we would love the opportunity to put you in the drivers seat at any of our meetings or various EVents.

We typically have a monthly meeting on the 2nd Saturday of every month at 11am.  We currently don’t have a perfect meeting place so be sure to check the upcoming events calendar below to see where we are planning on meeting next.

To stay in touch with us and know what’s going on with EVs in East TN, please enter your email address in the subscription box on the right and you will be put on our event announcement mailing list. We will only email you about upcoming monthly meetings or big events.

We also have a very active discussion email list where any of our members can send out interesting EV news and topics. This is also where we conduct a majority of our event planning. If you would like to join our discussion list please click here to add your email to our discussion list. Be sure to acknowledge the verification email that is sent to you first so that you don’t miss any of our emails! This discussion list is ran by Freelist and you can set it up to get every email or a daily/weekly digest if you would like.

Here’s a quick snapshot of what we have going on in the next few months.

December Holiday Party at Schulz Brau Brewery

December 6th, 2025, 12pm-?

Hey everyone,
We decided at the last meeting to have our holiday party at Schulz Brau Brewery on December 6th at noon. If you are unfamiliar, this is the German brewery that looks like a castle from the outside and has a 6,000 sqft beer garden that’s decorated up for the holidays. Last year they had some fake snow going and multiple fire pits. They also will have the German style Christmas market going on at the same time, so you can do some holiday shopping as well. They offer a menu of authentic German cuisine. Which includes some vegan and vegetarian options too. We will try and take over a long table for ourselves. But if the upstairs mezzanine is free we may try to get seating up there so check there as well if you don’t see any of us in the regular area.

There is no planned agenda for discussion, we will just use this event to socialize and hangout and talk about whatever we want.

However, we have been asked to help support the Consumer Reports EV Charging Community by signing up to join CR EV Charging Community to provide our input on experiences with discussions and potential surveys. EVA is running a contest that will pay the chapter with the most people signed up $500, 2nd and 3rd get $250 and $125 respectively. So to help us win some money, please sign up by following this link and selecting Knoxville in the chapter list so we get credit for your signup. https://www.myeva.org/ev-charging-community If you sign up, please be on the lookout for emails from CR where they ask for your input on various EV questions.

Thanks everyone, see you there!

Meeting date and time: Saturday December 6th, noon-?
Meeting location: Schulz Brau Brewery 126 Bernard Ave, Knoxville, TN 37917 https://www.schulzbraubrewing.com/

January Monthly Meeting

January 10th, 2025 (possibly change based on winter weather)

Stay tuned as we are working on getting a guest speaker to come talk to use for this meeting, so check back as we get closer.

85% of all EV charging is done at home

Most EV sold today comes with a 110 volt charger. Some EVs come with a 240 volt charger. We recommend people install a 240 volt charger in their garage since the latest EVs have larger battery packs this will minimize the time it takes to charge your EV. Most people already have access to 240v in their garage as this is the typical voltage for clothes dryers.

3 cents a mile

The typical efficiency of electric vehicles is 3 miles a KWH. The average cost of a KWH of electricity in Tennessee is about 10 cents.  Simple math means you only pay 3.3 cents per mile. Even better news is that EV makers are pushing the efficiency to 4 miles or more per KWH thus making the cost even cheaper!
